ABOUT ME
Jialin Wang is a young collaborative pianist. She began studying piano at the age of 5. By the time she was 12, she had developed an interest in vocal area and began studying mezzo-soprano singing. Jialin received her bachelor’s degree in Music Education from East China Normal University in 2022. She was previously active on stages in Shanghai, China.
Given her background, Jialin naturally developed a passion for collaborative piano. She received her master’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music studying under Professor Anita Pontremoli (’24). While there, she collaborated with the University Choral and the concert choir at Case Western Reserve University.
Jialin has experience performing a wide range of different musical styles. She plays everything from art Baroque period art songs to modern music. She’s especially experienced in collaborative piano. In 2020, she performed act three of Giacomo Puccini’s La Boheme with singers from East China Normal University. In 2021, she performed as collaborative pianist in the East China Normal University Concerto and Aria Competition. In summer 2023, she attended SongFest. She received guidance from the famous vocal coaches Martin Katz and Lydia Brown and performed at Ingram Hall in Vanderbilt University. In 2024, she studied at the Collaborative Piano Institute (CPI) under Martin Katz, Rita Sloan, Ana Maria Otamendi, Elena Lacheva, Elena Abend, Elvia Puccinelli, Howard Watkins, and Jorge Parodi. She also worked with Malcolm Martineau, Kenneth R. Griffiths, Gary Matthewman, and Charlene Harb through American Institute of Music Study (AIMS) in Graz in 2024 and performed in Kammermusiksaal, Graz, Austria.
She is currently completing her GD in Collaborative Piano (’25) under Anita Pontremoli at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
